PREVENTING INFECTION

1 Keep feet clean, and dry your feet well (especially between toes) after bathing or showering.

2 Always wear footwear around public pools, showers, saunas and locker rooms.

3 Wear suitable gym or running shoes that won't jar your nails.

4 Check your partner's nails as nail infections can spread.

5 Minimise exposure or wear gloves if you work with detergents, soil, potting mix or are in an environment where your hands are continuously damp or immersed in water etc.

6 Ensure that when having manicures & pedicures the beauty salon has sterilised equipment.

People whose immune systems are compromised may be more vulnerable to fungal infections. If you notice thickening, discolouration or detachment of the nail, visit your local pharmacy to discuss how to treat the condition before it becomes worse or spreads.
